A flax field is as close to an ocean view as you can get at Axten Family Farms. There is no more beautiful sight than the blue flowers waving in the wind. Did you know that each five-petal blue flower only lasts for a few days and drops to the soil surface after pollination.

We often grow our flax as an intercrop, as it is a great support that acts as a trellis for lentils or peas. It is also a great host for mychorrizal fungi which have a symbiotic relationship with the plant. The fungi supply water and nutrients to the plants.
